Introduction
| As of this writing, it is May which means that summer is almost upon us and already we’re feeling the heat here in Alabama. For the past two months, I’ve been busy. Three weeks of online courses, two weeks of training in Florida, another website built (www.triple-t-lawncare.com), and finially started my new job. Now that I have some free time, I’m going to implement the changes to the Postbordem website that I hinted at a few months ago.
I am moving to a 3 month (quarterly) schedule that follows the seasons (Summer, Spring, Fall, & Winter). At the beginning of each of these quarters, I will kick it off with an introductory article (like this one) which will list my objectives for the following months. Then for the next 3 months, I will release regular small articles on various topics and subjects reserving the large, polished articles to only a few per year (aiming for 1 a quarter or 4 a year).
I’ve had trouble with the, “It doesn’t have to be perfect,” attitude which has hindered my output on the PostBordem website as well as YouTube (I only wanted to give y’all the “best” content). Consider that a lesson learned. Content is better than no content. I’ll give the book “Show Your Work!” by Austin Kleon a nod for reinspiring me to write more. Additionally, I want to narrow down my focus. So let’s start with that.
First up, “Discourses & Challenges.”
This is the reason that I started PostBordem. It won’t be the bulk of my future content but it’s what I’m passionate about, so expect the occasional but polished article on these topics.
This issue’s challenge:
Second up, “Useful Knowledge & Tools.”
I haven’t released a lot of articles in this category before, but I do have a lot in the backlog. So expect several articles full of useful knowledge such as: app reviews, EDC (every day carry) reviews, tool reviews, personal advice, listicles, and similar.
This issue’s useful tools:
Third, “Content Curation & Culture.”
My book reviews! I promise I’ll branch out beyond just books, but reading makes you a good writer so they’re here to stay, and as Austin Kleon said, “It’s nice to see other people’s influences”.
This issue’s content:
Fourth, “Accomplishments.”
Consider this advice for aspiring writers or content creators. Other people like to see what you’re good at and to learn from you. I intend to cover the conclusions to my challenges and present my findings here, but I will also keep y’all informed on my other accomplishments such as starting a business. Occasionally, I’ll detail failures as well since it’s all a learning experience, but I want to tell y’all the right way to do things not the wrong way.
And finally, “News.”
Certainly a new category for me, but I travel for work and pleasure more than the average person probably, so I’ll be sure to share the cool or weird stuff that I come across in my journeys. Also, I’ll pass along any legit stuff that I find while surfing the internet. I’ll keep it minut though (don’t want this to turn into a Facebook page).
Conclusion
Well, that should give y’all a pretty good idea of what’s to come. I am starting this quarter off early but I can’t help it I’m ready to get writing. So let’s call this my first offical “Monthly Introduction!”
And to give y’all a sample of the quarter ahead, I have included some titles in the thumbnail. Look forward to what’s to come.
